ECO-FRIENDLY COMMERCIAL ROOFING
What is TPO roofing?
TPO stands for thermoplastic polyolefin, belonging o a group of plastic sealing systems. TPO consists of alloys of individual plastics such as polypropylene, polyethylene, polybutylene, and an integrated reinforcement. Some associations and manufacturers call them flexible polyolefins (FPO) because they are less rigid than polyethylene as an individual component.
Smarthomes Roofing & Remodeling offers commercial roofing services using TPO/FPO, PVC, and EPDM (plastic waterproofing systems) in the Houston area. Here you can find the plastic choices you’ve got for roof repairs or replacement.
Why should I use TPO/FPO on my roof?
Plastic waterproofing systems offer a loose installation almost independently from weather conditions, even if your install prefabricated tarpaulins. Moreover, you can use individual layers for conversions or repairs. Specially equipped and tested roofing membranes can also be used for load-bearing systems, withstanding especial load caused by microorganisms, root growth, and stagnant water.
What is the cost of a TPO roof?
Depending on your current roof conditions this may vary. If you want an official estimate hit this link and we will get back to you with a quote. Receiving a detailed waterproof roofing estimate is a 100% online process.
In commercial roofing, is this TPO different from Modified Bitumen?
Yes indeed, those are very different technologies. When making plastic seals you must ensure seam and connections carefully, as they’re laid in one layer and usually loosely on a protective layer made of plastic fleece. To prevent wind suction they are either fastened mechanically or secured with a load. Unlike nastier technologies, you must not use flat gluing. Instead, strip-like or point-like gluing is better to keep the high flexibility and stretchability of the plastic web.
Is TPO/FPO roofing compatible with my Modified Bitumen roof?
Yes, it is. Generally, waterproofing membranes are compatible with rigid polystyrene foam and modified bitumen. Caution: TPO/FPO roofing is not compatible with PVC roofing. Its laying is carried out with mechanical anchoring and also loosely under load with edge line fixing.
